Typo-check .hidden files (#16035)
# Objective Typo-check .hidden files like `.cargo/config_fast_builds.toml` and `.github/*`. Context: https://github.com/bevyengine/bevy/pull/16025. ## Solution - Add `ignore-hidden = false` to `typos.toml` to override the default value of `true`. - Add an exception to keep `.git/` ignored in `typos.toml`. - Fix newly-found typos so CI passes. ## Testing Running `typos` locally finds no further typos. |

Compare screenshots with main on PRs (#13248)
# Objective - Compare screenshots for a few examples between PRs and main ## Solution - Send screenshots taken to a screenshot comparison service - Not completely sure every thing will work at once, but it shouldn't break anything at least - it needs a secret to work, I'll add it if enough people agree with this PR - this PR doesn't change anything on the screenshot selection (load_gltf and breakout currently), this will need rendering folks input and can happen later --------- Co-authored-by: Alice Cecile <alice.i.cecile@gmail.com> |

Add compile-check-no-std Command to CI Tool (#15843)
# Objective - Fixes #15840 ## Solution Added a new subcommand to the CI tool, `compile-check-no-std`, which will attempt to compile each `no_std` crate in Bevy with the appropriate features (no-defaults, `libm`, etc.) for `x86_64-unknown-none`. The exact target chosen could be changed to any reasonable platform which does not include the `std` library. The currently tested crates are: - `bevy_ptr` - `bevy_utils` - `bevy_mikktspace` As more crates have `no_std` support added, they _should_ be added to this CI command. Once Bevy itself can be `no_std`, the individual checks can be replaced with just checking Bevy, since it will transiently check all other crates as appropriate. ## Testing - Ran CI. From a clean target directory (`cargo clean`), these new checks take approximately 10 seconds total. --------- Co-authored-by: François Mockers <francois.mockers@vleue.com> |

Add features to switch NativeActivity and GameActivity usage (#12095)
# Objective Add two features to switch bevy to use `NativeActivity` or `GameActivity` on Android, use `GameActivity` by default. Also close #12058 and probably #12026 . ## Solution Add two features to the corresponding crates so you can toggle it, like what `winit` and `android-activity` crate did. --- ## Changelog Removed default `NativeActivity` feature implementation for Android, added two new features to enable `NativeActivity` and `GameActivity`, and use `GameActivity` by default. ## Migration Guide Because `cargo-apk` is not compatible with `GameActivity`, building/running using `cargo apk build/run -p bevy_mobile_example` is no longer possible. Users should follow the new workflow described in document. --------- Co-authored-by: François Mockers <francois.mockers@vleue.com> Co-authored-by: BD103 <59022059+BD103@users.noreply.github.com> Co-authored-by: Rich Churcher <rich.churcher@gmail.com> |

Migrate meshes and materials to required components (#15524)
# Objective A big step in the migration to required components: meshes and materials! ## Solution As per the [selected proposal](https://hackmd.io/@bevy/required_components/%2Fj9-PnF-2QKK0on1KQ29UWQ): - Deprecate `MaterialMesh2dBundle`, `MaterialMeshBundle`, and `PbrBundle`. - Add `Mesh2d` and `Mesh3d` components, which wrap a `Handle<Mesh>`. - Add `MeshMaterial2d<M: Material2d>` and `MeshMaterial3d<M: Material>`, which wrap a `Handle<M>`. - Meshes *without* a mesh material should be rendered with a default material. The existence of a material is determined by `HasMaterial2d`/`HasMaterial3d`, which is required by `MeshMaterial2d`/`MeshMaterial3d`. This gets around problems with the generics. Previously: ```rust commands.spawn(MaterialMesh2dBundle { mesh: meshes.add(Circle::new(100.0)).into(), material: materials.add(Color::srgb(7.5, 0.0, 7.5)), transform: Transform::from_translation(Vec3::new(-200., 0., 0.)), ..default() }); ``` Now: ```rust commands.spawn(( Mesh2d(meshes.add(Circle::new(100.0))), MeshMaterial2d(materials.add(Color::srgb(7.5, 0.0, 7.5))), Transform::from_translation(Vec3::new(-200., 0., 0.)), )); ``` If the mesh material is missing, previously nothing was rendered. Now, it renders a white default `ColorMaterial` in 2D and a `StandardMaterial` in 3D (this can be overridden). Below, only every other entity has a material: Why white? This is still open for discussion, but I think white makes sense for a *default* material, while *invalid* asset handles pointing to nothing should have something like a pink material to indicate that something is broken (I don't handle that in this PR yet). This is kind of a mix of Godot and Unity: Godot just renders a white material for non-existent materials, while Unity renders nothing when no materials exist, but renders pink for invalid materials. I can also change the default material to pink if that is preferable though. ## Testing I ran some 2D and 3D examples to test if anything changed visually. I have not tested all examples or features yet however. If anyone wants to test more extensively, it would be appreciated! ## Implementation Notes - The relationship between `bevy_render` and `bevy_pbr` is weird here. `bevy_render` needs `Mesh3d` for its own systems, but `bevy_pbr` has all of the material logic, and `bevy_render` doesn't depend on it. I feel like the two crates should be refactored in some way, but I think that's out of scope for this PR. - I didn't migrate meshlets to required components yet. That can probably be done in a follow-up, as this is already a huge PR. - It is becoming increasingly clear to me that we really, *really* want to disallow raw asset handles as components. They caused me a *ton* of headache here already, and it took me a long time to find every place that queried for them or inserted them directly on entities, since there were no compiler errors for it. If we don't remove the `Component` derive, I expect raw asset handles to be a *huge* footgun for users as we transition to wrapper components, especially as handles as components have been the norm so far. I personally consider this to be a blocker for 0.15: we need to migrate to wrapper components for asset handles everywhere, and remove the `Component` derive. Also see https://github.com/bevyengine/bevy/issues/14124. --- ## Migration Guide Asset handles for meshes and mesh materials must now be wrapped in the `Mesh2d` and `MeshMaterial2d` or `Mesh3d` and `MeshMaterial3d` components for 2D and 3D respectively. Raw handles as components no longer render meshes. Additionally, `MaterialMesh2dBundle`, `MaterialMeshBundle`, and `PbrBundle` have been deprecated. Instead, use the mesh and material components directly. Previously: ```rust commands.spawn(MaterialMesh2dBundle { mesh: meshes.add(Circle::new(100.0)).into(), material: materials.add(Color::srgb(7.5, 0.0, 7.5)), transform: Transform::from_translation(Vec3::new(-200., 0., 0.)), ..default() }); ``` Now: ```rust commands.spawn(( Mesh2d(meshes.add(Circle::new(100.0))), MeshMaterial2d(materials.add(Color::srgb(7.5, 0.0, 7.5))), Transform::from_translation(Vec3::new(-200., 0., 0.)), )); ``` If the mesh material is missing, a white default material is now used. Previously, nothing was rendered if the material was missing. The `WithMesh2d` and `WithMesh3d` query filter type aliases have also been removed. Simply use `With<Mesh2d>` or `With<Mesh3d>`. --------- Co-authored-by: Tim Blackbird <justthecooldude@gmail.com> Co-authored-by: Carter Anderson <mcanders1@gmail.com> |

Deprecate old contributing documentation / information (#14885)
# Objective Fixes #14884 We have launched the new [contributing guide](https://bevyengine.org/learn/contribute/introduction) on Bevy's website, so these sources of information should be removed to avoid syncing across duplicate files and maintaining a single source of truth on contributing. ## Solution ### Remove the files: - `docs/release_checklist.md`. - `docs/the_bevy_organization.md`. - `.github/contributing/engine_style_guide.md`. - `.github/contributing/example_style_guide.md`. #### These are replaced by: - `https://bevyengine.org/learn/contribute/project-information/release-process/`. - `https://bevyengine.org/learn/contribute/project-information/bevy-organization/`. - `https://bevyengine.org/learn/contribute/helping-out/opening-pull-requests/#style-guide`. - `https://bevyengine.org/learn/contribute/helping-out/creating-examples/#style-guide` ### Make `CONTRIBUTING.md` re-direct to Bevy's website's Contributing Guide `https://bevyengine.org/learn/contribute/introduction` ### Change the contributing guide link in `welcome.yml` workflow to link to Bevy's website's Contributing Guide `https://bevyengine.org/learn/contribute/introduction` ## Testing I looked at the markdown files in my repository's branch to make sure they look fine. I have not tested the `welcome.yml` workflow since I don't know how, without having a new contributor make a PR to my branch. --------- Co-authored-by: Alice Cecile <alice.i.cecile@gmail.com> |

Document private items in dev-docs (#14769)
# Objective - The [developer docs](https://dev-docs.bevyengine.org) are primarily used by developers, who often deal with internal and private functions. - @mweatherley suggested [on Discord](https://discord.com/channels/691052431525675048/743559241461399582/1273658470134186112) that CI passes `--document-private-items` to the dev-docs, so contributors can easily browse these internal details. ## Solution - Add `--document-private-items` to the CI job that builds the dev-docs. ## Testing - It should run in CI and generate documentation for private code. ## Drawbacks - Users that track the main branch may use the dev-docs instead of <https://docs.rs/bevy>, which may now show a lot of unwanted internal details. - Searching may be slower / bloated with internal details. |

Sync flags in docs.yml with package.metadata.docs.rs (#14734)
# Objective This PR is a follow-up to #14703. I forgot to also add the flags from `package.metadata.docs.rs` to the docs build. ## Solution As [discussed on Discord](https://discord.com/channels/691052431525675048/1272629407659589663/1272643734260940940), I added the missing flags to `docs.yml`. I also updated `rustc-args` to properly make use of the array (I think the value has to be either a space-separated string *or* an array of strings but not an array of space-separated strings 😆) |

Generate links to definition in source code pages on docs.rs and dev-docs.bevyengine.org (#12965)
# Objective - Fix issue #2611 ## Solution - Add `--generate-link-to-definition` to all the `rustdoc-args` arrays in the `Cargo.toml`s (for docs.rs) - Add `--generate-link-to-definition` to the `RUSTDOCFLAGS` environment variable in the docs workflow (for dev-docs.bevyengine.org) - Document all the workspace crates in the docs workflow (needed because otherwise only the source code of the `bevy` package will be included, making the argument useless) - I think this also fixes #3662, since it fixes the bug on dev-docs.bevyengine.org, while on docs.rs it has been fixed for a while on their side. --- ## Changelog - The source code viewer on docs.rs now includes links to the definitions. |

Test for ambiguous system ordering in CI (#13950)

Fixed #14248 and other URL issues (#14276)
# Objective Fixes #14248 and other URL issues. ## Solution - Describe the solution used to achieve the objective above. Removed the random #s in the URL. Led users to the wrong page. For example, https://bevyengine.org/learn/errors/#b0003 takes users to https://bevyengine.org/learn/errors/introduction, which is not the right page. Removing the #s fixes it. ## Testing - Did you test these changes? If so, how? I pasted the URL into my address bar and it took me to the right place. - Are there any parts that need more testing? No |

meta: Add Showcase section to PR template (#11750)
# Objective Oftentimes I find myself reading through a PR and not quite understanding what's going on. Even if it's super detailed, it can sometimes be difficult to imagine what the end result of the PR might look like. For example, #10756 clearly communicates its goals and contains a descriptive Changelog. However, I was still a bit lost as to what a user might see from the change until I saw the dedicated example in the diff. ## Solution At the risk of giving contributors more work, I think a dedicated `Showcase` section could be really nice. Along with providing reviewers stumbling on the PR with a "tangible summary" of the change, it should also help out when working on the release post. Sometimes someone other than the PR's author has to write up a blog section on the PR. This can be somewhat daunting to people wanting to contribute in that effort as they have to rely on the Migration Guide giving a decent example (assuming it's a breaking change), piecing together the other sections into a sensible example themselves, or manually reading through the diff. Theoretically, this new `Showcase` section would be more of an encouragement than a strict requirement. And it's probably only going to be useful where there is something to showcase (e.g. visual changes, API changes, new features, etc.). ### Bikeshedding - **Naming.** I also considered `Demo` and `Example`, but there may be others we prefer. I chose `Showcase` to communicate the feeling of fun and appreciation for the work contributors put in. - **Position.** I placed the section right above the `Changelog` section since I felt it made sense to move from the details in `Solution` to a brief example in `Showcase` to a tl;dr of the changes in `Changelog` - **Phrasing.** We can also bikeshed the bullet points and phrasing of each as well. |

Don't deploy docs when working on a fork (#13278)
# Objective - Some developers enable Github Actions for their fork and commit directly to main. This triggers the `docs.yml` action, which attempts to deploy the documentation even if Github Pages is not enabled. (It also creates a `CNAME` file specific to Bevy and should not be used in forks, even for testing.) - For an example, see [this run](https://github.com/tychedelia/bevy/actions/runs/8978912060/job/24660082729). ## Solution - Only attempt to deploy docs when running from the main Bevy repository. - This does not affect us checking `cargo doc` on pull requests, since that it done in `ci.yml`. ## Testing It's difficult to test this, but you'd probably: 1. Fork Bevy 2. Cherry pick this PR's commits onto the main branch of your fork. 3. Push another commit to the main branch, triggering Github Actions. 4. Check the Github Actions job summary to ensure that the `build-and-deploy` job is skipped. |

Small CI improvements (#13060)
# Objective - Some CI jobs specifically use `macos-14`, as compared to the default `macos-latest`. - `macos-latest` is equivalent to `macos-12`, but may be updated in the future. - The CI job that tests on the minimum supported Rust version (MSRV) uses environmental variables to save the toolchain version. - This specific usage is what step outputs were designed for. - Both do the same thing, but step outputs can be checked by the [Github Actions VSCode Extension](https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=GitHub.vscode-github-actions). - Some workflows have a `NIGHTLY_TOOLCHAIN` variable that let us pin the nightly version, in case a new release breaks CI. ## Solution - Document why certain actions required `macos-14`. - Switch MSRV step to use step outputs. - Add a small comment documenting the purpose of the `NIGHTLY_TOOLCHAIN` environmental variable. |

Create custom action for installing Linux dependencies (#12850)
# Objective - There are several occurrences where different actions install alsa, udev, and various other libraries for Linux. - This is repetitive and can be an issue if the dependencies required by Bevy ever change. ## Solution - Create a custom action for installing Linux dependencies. - It can be used by adding `- uses: ./.github/actions/install-linux-deps`. - It supports configuring which libraries are installed using the `with` property. - It does nothing if not run on Linux, so workflows don't need to worry about adding `if: ${{ runner.os == 'linux' }}`. ## Discussion - The only instance where this action is not used cleanly is for the `run-examples-linux-vulkan` verification job. I need to investigate further the flags and dependencies that it installs. |

Get Bevy building for WebAssembly with multithreading (#12205)
# Objective This gets Bevy building on Wasm when the `atomics` flag is enabled. This does not yet multithread Bevy itself, but it allows Bevy users to use a crate like `wasm_thread` to spawn their own threads and manually parallelize work. This is a first step towards resolving #4078 . Also fixes #9304. This provides a foothold so that Bevy contributors can begin to think about multithreaded Wasm's constraints and Bevy can work towards changes to get the engine itself multithreaded. Some flags need to be set on the Rust compiler when compiling for Wasm multithreading. Here's what my build script looks like, with the correct flags set, to test out Bevy examples on web: ```bash set -e RUSTFLAGS='-C target-feature=+atomics,+bulk-memory,+mutable-globals' \ cargo build --example breakout --target wasm32-unknown-unknown -Z build-std=std,panic_abort --release wasm-bindgen --out-name wasm_example \ --out-dir examples/wasm/target \ --target web target/wasm32-unknown-unknown/release/examples/breakout.wasm devserver --header Cross-Origin-Opener-Policy='same-origin' --header Cross-Origin-Embedder-Policy='require-corp' --path examples/wasm ``` A few notes: 1. `cpal` crashes immediately when the `atomics` flag is set. That is patched in https://github.com/RustAudio/cpal/pull/837, but not yet in the latest crates.io release. That can be temporarily worked around by patching Cpal like so: ```toml [patch.crates-io] cpal = { git = "https://github.com/RustAudio/cpal" } ``` 2. When testing out `wasm_thread` you need to enable the `es_modules` feature. ## Solution The largest obstacle to compiling Bevy with `atomics` on web is that `wgpu` types are _not_ Send and Sync. Longer term Bevy will need an approach to handle that, but in the near term Bevy is already configured to be single-threaded on web. Therefor it is enough to wrap `wgpu` types in a `send_wrapper::SendWrapper` that _is_ Send / Sync, but panics if accessed off the `wgpu` thread. --- ## Changelog - `wgpu` types that are not `Send` are wrapped in `send_wrapper::SendWrapper` on Wasm + 'atomics' - CommandBuffers are not generated in parallel on Wasm + 'atomics' ## Questions - Bevy should probably add CI checks to make sure this doesn't regress. Should that go in this PR or a separate PR? **Edit:** Added checks to build Wasm with atomics --------- Co-authored-by: François <mockersf@gmail.com> Co-authored-by: Alice Cecile <alice.i.cecile@gmail.com> Co-authored-by: daxpedda <daxpedda@gmail.com> Co-authored-by: François <francois.mockers@vleue.com> |

Update engine_style_guide with guideline to link to the error code when using bevy engine error codes (#12253)
# Objective - https://github.com/bevyengine/bevy/pull/12165 created the expectation that returned bevy errors will include a link to the relevant bevy error. That expectation is not formally established in the contributing guidelines which will lead to it not being upheld in future PRs that use the bevy error codes. This PR adds it to engine_style_guide.md to establish that convention officially --------- Co-authored-by: Afonso Lage <lage.afonso@gmail.com> |

Update wgpu to v0.19.3 and unpin web-sys . (#12247)
# Objective This PR unpins `web-sys` so that unrelated projects that have `bevy_render` in their workspace can finally update their `web-sys`. More details in and fixes #12246. ## Solution * Update `wgpu` from 0.19.1 to 0.19.3. * Remove the `web-sys` pin. * Update docs and wasm helper to remove the now-stale `--cfg=web_sys_unstable_apis` Rust flag. --- ## Changelog Updated `wgpu` to v0.19.3 and removed `web-sys` pin. |

add cancel in progress support to automated CI checks (#11130)
# Objective When working on PRs, I'll often find that one of the early CI checks fails, and work on fixing the result, but when I push the earlier commits are still being processed by the CI. This would mean that if a new commit is pushed while another CI process is already running on that branch, the first set of jobs will be cancelled - reducing wasted resources and wait time for CI on the latest commits. ## Solution The solution is simply adding Github's concurrency groups to every relevant workflow. |

CI: run long tasks on new macOS runners (#12133)
# Objective - Make PR CI faster ## Solution - Run example on macOS, Windows examples are now run on PR merge instead. This is the biggest change in duration - Run miri on macOS. It doesn't change much the duration, but will free a runner 2 minutes earlier - Don't run check-doc job as it hangs on macOS. Don't move too many job as there are less macOS-14 runners globally available and they are more limited before: <img width="794" alt="Screenshot 2024-02-26 at 20 47 07" src="https://github.com/bevyengine/bevy/assets/8672791/349292a1-cddd-4e4b-aba9-4dbaef1fc4d6"> after <img width="790" alt="Screenshot 2024-02-26 at 20 47 23" src="https://github.com/bevyengine/bevy/assets/8672791/7b0983b2-0a8a-44d2-9bde-e4c6ecfbf97a"> |

Add typos - Source code spell checker (#12036)
# Objective - Avoid misspellings throughout the codebase by using [`typos`](https://github.com/crate-ci/typos) in CI Inspired by https://github.com/gfx-rs/wgpu/pull/5191 Typos is a minimal code speller written in rust that finds and corrects spelling mistakes among source code. - Fast enough to run on monorepos - Low false positives so you can run on PRs ## Solution - Use [typos-action](https://github.com/marketplace/actions/typos-action) in CI - Add how to use typos in the Contribution Guide --------- Co-authored-by: François <mockersf@gmail.com> Co-authored-by: Alice Cecile <alice.i.cecile@gmail.com> Co-authored-by: Joona Aalto <jondolf.dev@gmail.com> |

# Objective - Add the new `-Zcheck-cfg` checks to catch more warnings - Fixes #12091 ## Solution - Create a new `cfg-check` to the CI that runs `cargo check -Zcheck-cfg --workspace` using cargo nightly (and fails if there are warnings) - Fix all warnings generated by the new check --- ## Changelog - Remove all redundant imports - Fix cfg wasm32 targets - Add 3 dead code exceptions (should StandardColor be unused?) - Convert ios_simulator to a feature (I'm not sure if this is the right way to do it, but the check complained before) ## Migration Guide No breaking changes --------- Co-authored-by: Alice Cecile <alice.i.cecile@gmail.com> |

Bump peter-evans/create-pull-request from 5 to 6 (#11712)
Bumps [peter-evans/create-pull-request](https://github.com/peter-evans/create-pull-request) from 5 to 6. <details> <summary>Release notes</summary> <p><em>Sourced from <a href="https://github.com/peter-evans/create-pull-request/releases">peter-evans/create-pull-request's releases</a>.</em></p> <blockquote> <h2>Create Pull Request v6.0.0</h2> <h2>Behaviour changes</h2> <ul> <li>The default values for <code>author</code> and <code>committer</code> have changed. See "What's new" below for details. If you are overriding the default values you will not be affected by this change.</li> <li>On completion, the action now removes the temporary git remote configuration it adds when using <code>push-to-fork</code>. This should not affect you unless you were using the temporary configuration for some other purpose after the action completes.</li> </ul> <h2>What's new</h2> <ul> <li>Updated runtime to Node.js 20 <ul> <li>The action now requires a minimum version of <a href="https://github.com/actions/runner/releases/tag/v2.308.0">v2.308.0</a> for the Actions runner. Update self-hosted runners to v2.308.0 or later to ensure compatibility.</li> </ul> </li> <li>The default value for <code>author</code> has been changed to <code>${{ github.actor }} <${{ github.actor_id }}+${{ github.actor }}@users.noreply.github.com></code>. The change adds the <code>${{ github.actor_id }}+</code> prefix to the email address to align with GitHub's standard format for the author email address.</li> <li>The default value for <code>committer</code> has been changed to <code>github-actions[bot] <41898282+github-actions[bot]@users.noreply.github.com></code>. This is to align with the default GitHub Actions bot user account.</li> <li>Adds input <code>git-token</code>, the <a href="https://docs.github.com/en/github/authenticating-to-github/creating-a-personal-access-token">Personal Access Token (PAT)</a> that the action will use for git operations. This input defaults to the value of <code>token</code>. Use this input if you would like the action to use a different token for git operations than the one used for the GitHub API.</li> <li><code>push-to-fork</code> now supports pushing to sibling repositories in the same network.</li> <li>Previously, when using <code>push-to-fork</code>, the action did not remove temporary git remote configuration it adds during execution. This has been fixed and the configuration is now removed when the action completes.</li> <li>If the pull request body is truncated due to exceeding the maximum length, the action will now suffix the body with the message "...<em>[Pull request body truncated]</em>" to indicate that the body has been truncated.</li> <li>The action now uses <code>--unshallow</code> only when necessary, rather than as a default argument of <code>git fetch</code>. This should improve performance, particularly for large git repositories with extensive commit history.</li> <li>The action can now be executed on one GitHub server and create pull requests on a <em>different</em> GitHub server. Server products include GitHub hosted (github.com), GitHub Enterprise Server (GHES), and GitHub Enterprise Cloud (GHEC). For example, the action can be executed on GitHub hosted and create pull requests on a GHES or GHEC instance.</li> </ul> <h2>What's Changed</h2> <ul> <li>Update distribution by <a href="https://github.com/actions-bot"><code>@actions-bot</code></a> in <a href="https://redirect.github.com/peter-evans/create-pull-request/pull/2086">peter-evans/create-pull-request#2086</a></li> <li>fix crazy-max/ghaction-import-gp parameters by <a href="https://github.com/fharper"><code>@fharper</code></a> in <a href="https://redirect.github.com/peter-evans/create-pull-request/pull/2177">peter-evans/create-pull-request#2177</a></li> <li>Update distribution by <a href="https://github.com/actions-bot"><code>@actions-bot</code></a> in <a href="https://redirect.github.com/peter-evans/create-pull-request/pull/2364">peter-evans/create-pull-request#2364</a></li> <li>Use checkout v4 by <a href="https://github.com/okuramasafumi"><code>@okuramasafumi</code></a> in <a href="https://redirect.github.com/peter-evans/create-pull-request/pull/2521">peter-evans/create-pull-request#2521</a></li> <li>Note about <code>delete-branch</code> by <a href="https://github.com/dezren39"><code>@dezren39</code></a> in <a href="https://redirect.github.com/peter-evans/create-pull-request/pull/2631">peter-evans/create-pull-request#2631</a></li> <li>98 dependency updates by <a href="https://github.com/dependabot"><code>@dependabot</code></a></li> </ul> <h2>New Contributors</h2> <ul> <li><a href="https://github.com/fharper"><code>@fharper</code></a> made their first contribution in <a href="https://redirect.github.com/peter-evans/create-pull-request/pull/2177">peter-evans/create-pull-request#2177</a></li> <li><a href="https://github.com/okuramasafumi"><code>@okuramasafumi</code></a> made their first contribution in <a href="https://redirect.github.com/peter-evans/create-pull-request/pull/2521">peter-evans/create-pull-request#2521</a></li> <li><a href="https://github.com/dezren39"><code>@dezren39</code></a> made their first contribution in <a href="https://redirect.github.com/peter-evans/create-pull-request/pull/2631">peter-evans/create-pull-request#2631</a></li> </ul> <p><strong>Full Changelog</strong>: <a href="https://github.com/peter-evans/create-pull-request/compare/v5.0.2...v6.0.0">https://github.com/peter-evans/create-pull-request/compare/v5.0.2...v6.0.0</a></p> <h2>Create Pull Request v5.0.2</h2> <p>⚙️ Fixes an issue that occurs when using <code>push-to-fork</code> and both base and head repositories are in the same org/user account.</p> <h2>What's Changed</h2> <ul> <li>fix: specify head repo by <a href="https://github.com/peter-evans"><code>@peter-evans</code></a> in <a href="https://redirect.github.com/peter-evans/create-pull-request/pull/2044">peter-evans/create-pull-request#2044</a></li> <li>20 dependency updates by <a href="https://github.com/dependabot"><code>@dependabot</code></a></li> </ul> <p><strong>Full Changelog</strong>: <a href="https://github.com/peter-evans/create-pull-request/compare/v5.0.1...v5.0.2">https://github.com/peter-evans/create-pull-request/compare/v5.0.1...v5.0.2</a></p> <h2>Create Pull Request v5.0.1</h2> <h2>What's Changed</h2> <ul> <li>fix: truncate body if exceeds max length by <a href="https://github.com/peter-evans"><code>@peter-evans</code></a> in <a href="https://redirect.github.com/peter-evans/create-pull-request/pull/1915">peter-evans/create-pull-request#1915</a></li> <li>12 dependency updates by <a href="https://github.com/dependabot"><code>@dependabot</code></a></li> </ul> <p><strong>Full Changelog</strong>: <a href="https://github.com/peter-evans/create-pull-request/compare/v5.0.0...v5.0.1">https://github.com/peter-evans/create-pull-request/compare/v5.0.0...v5.0.1</a></p> </blockquote> </details> <details> <summary>Commits</summary> <ul> <li><a href=" |

Bump dev-docs pages actions (#11418)
# Objective - `actions/upload-pages-artifact` and `actions/deploy-pages` are outdated. - Alternative to #11253 and #11252. ## Solution - Bump the version of both actions. --- There appear to be no user-facing changes. They just both need to be updated together. (The `actions: read` permission was a bug that was fixed later.) |

Publish dev-docs with Github Pages artifacts (2nd attempt) (#10892)
Supersedes #10888. # Objective Closes #10821 ## Solution - Replaced [JamesIves/github-pages-deploy-action](https://github.com/JamesIves/github-pages-deploy-action) with [actions/upload-pages-artifact](https://github.com/actions/upload-pages-artifact) and [actions/deploy-pages](https://github.com/actions/deploy-pages). ## Notes - I made this workflow possible to run through dispatch (`workflow_dispatch`), in case something goes wrong. - I restricted the permissions to just the things Github Pages needs. - I made it so that only one deployments can happen at a time, the other deployment requests will be queued up and the latest one will be run. |

Standardize toml format with taplo (#10594)
# Objective - Standardize fmt for toml files ## Solution - Add [taplo](https://taplo.tamasfe.dev/) to CI (check for fmt and diff for toml files), for context taplo is used by the most popular extension in VScode [Even Better TOML](https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=tamasfe.even-better-toml - Add contribution section to explain toml fmt with taplo. Now to pass CI you need to run `taplo fmt --option indent_string=" "` or if you use vscode have the `Even Better TOML` extension with 4 spaces for indent --------- Co-authored-by: Alice Cecile <alice.i.cecile@gmail.com> |

wgpu 0.17 (#9302)
~~Currently blocked on an upstream bug that causes crashes when minimizing/resizing on dx12 https://github.com/gfx-rs/wgpu/issues/3967~~ wgpu 0.17.1 is out which fixes it # Objective Keep wgpu up to date. ## Solution Update wgpu and naga_oil. Currently this depends on an unreleased (and unmerged) branch of naga_oil, and hasn't been properly tested yet. The wgpu side of this seems to have been an extremely trivial upgrade (all the upgrade work seems to be in naga_oil). This also lets us remove the workarounds for pack/unpack4x8unorm in the SSAO shaders. Lets us close the dx12 part of https://github.com/bevyengine/bevy/issues/8888 related: https://github.com/bevyengine/bevy/issues/9304 --- ## Changelog Update to wgpu 0.17 and naga_oil 0.9 |
