9666a7e688 Rename bevy_platform_support to bevy_platform (#18813)
The goal of `bevy_platform_support` is to provide a set of platform
agnostic APIs, alongside platform-specific functionality. This is a high
traffic crate (providing things like HashMap and Instant). Especially in
light of https://github.com/bevyengine/bevy/discussions/18799, it
deserves a friendlier / shorter name.

Given that it hasn't had a full release yet, getting this change in
before Bevy 0.16 makes sense.

- Rename `bevy_platform_support` to `bevy_platform`.

8723096d57 reexport entity set collections in entity module (#18413)
# Objective

Unlike for their helper typers, the import paths for
`unique_array::UniqueEntityArray`, `unique_slice::UniqueEntitySlice`,
`unique_vec::UniqueEntityVec`, `hash_set::EntityHashSet`,
`hash_map::EntityHashMap`, `index_set::EntityIndexSet`,
`index_map::EntityIndexMap` are quite redundant.

When looking at the structure of `hashbrown`, we can also see that while
both `HashSet` and `HashMap` have their own modules, the main types
themselves are re-exported to the crate level.

## Solution

Re-export the types in their shared `entity` parent module, and simplify
the imports where they're used.

Replace some !Send resources with thread_local! (#17730)
# Objective

Work for issue #17682 

What's in this PR:
* Removal of some `!Send` resources that Bevy uses internally
* Replaces `!Send` resources with `thread_local!` static

What this PR does not cover:
* The ability to create `!Send` resources still exists
* Tests that test `!Send` resources are present (and should not be
removed until the ability to create `!Send` resources is removed)
* The example `log_layers_ecs` still uses a `!Send` resource. In this
example, removing the `!Send` resource results in the system that uses
it running on a thread other than the main thread, which doesn't work
with lazily initialized `thread_local!` static data. Removing this
`!Send` resource will need to be deferred until the System API is
extended to support configuring which thread the System runs on. Once an
issue for this work is created, it will be mentioned in #17667

Once the System API is extended to allow control of which thread the
System runs on, the rest of the `!Send` resources can be removed in a
different PR.

## Summary of Changes

### Documentation Indentation

When using lists in documentation, proper indentation is now linted for.
This means subsequent lines within the same list item must start at the
same indentation level as the item.

```rust

/// - Item 1
///     Run-on sentence.
/// - Item 2
struct Foo;
```

### Implicit `!` to `()` Conversion

`!` (the never return type, returned by `panic!`, etc.) no longer
implicitly converts to `()`. This is particularly painful for systems
with `todo!` or `panic!` statements, as they will no longer be functions
returning `()` (or `Result<()>`), making them invalid systems for
functions like `add_systems`. The ideal fix would be to accept functions
returning `!` (or rather, _not_ returning), but this is blocked on the
[stabilisation of the `!` type
itself](https://doc.rust-lang.org/std/primitive.never.html), which is
not done.

The "simple" fix would be to add an explicit `-> ()` to system
signatures (e.g., `|| { todo!() }` becomes `|| -> () { todo!() }`).
However, this is _also_ banned, as there is an existing lint which (IMO,
incorrectly) marks this as an unnecessary annotation.

So, the "fix" (read: workaround) is to put these kinds of `|| -> ! { ...
}` closuers into variables and give the variable an explicit type (e.g.,
`fn()`).

let system: fn() = || todo!("Not implemented yet!");
app.add_systems(..., system);

// Invalid
app.add_systems(..., || todo!("Not implemented yet!"));
```

### Temporary Variable Lifetimes

The order in which temporary variables are dropped has changed. The
simple fix here is _usually_ to just assign temporaries to a named
variable before use.

### `gen` is a keyword

We can no longer use the name `gen` as it is reserved for a future
generator syntax. This involved replacing uses of the name `gen` with
`r#gen` (the raw-identifier syntax).

### Formatting has changed

Use statements have had the order of imports changed, causing a
substantial +/-3,000 diff when applied. For now, I have opted-out of
this change by amending `rustfmt.toml`

```toml
style_edition = "2021"
```

This preserves the original formatting for now, reducing the size of
this PR. It would be a simple followup to update this to 2024 and run
`cargo fmt`.

### New `use<>` Opt-Out Syntax

Lifetimes are now implicitly included in RPIT types. There was a handful
of instances where it needed to be added to satisfy the borrow checker,
but there may be more cases where it _should_ be added to avoid
breakages in user code.

### `MyUnitStruct { .. }` is an invalid pattern

Previously, you could match against unit structs (and unit enum
variants) with a `{ .. }` destructuring. This is no longer valid.

### Pretty much every use of `ref` and `mut` are gone

Pattern binding has changed to the point where these terms are largely
unused now. They still serve a purpose, but it is far more niche now.

### `iter::repeat(...).take(...)` is bad

New lint recommends using the more explicit `iter::repeat_n(..., ...)`
instead.

## Migration Guide

The lifetimes of functions using return-position impl-trait (RPIT) are
likely _more_ conservative than they had been previously. If you
encounter lifetime issues with such a function, please create an issue
to investigate the addition of `+ use<...>`.

## Notes

_actually_ changed.

Cleanup publish process (#17728)
# Objective

- publish script copy the license files to all subcrates, meaning that
all publish are dirty. this breaks git verification of crates
- the order and list of crates to publish is manually maintained,
leading to error. cargo 1.84 is more strict and the list is currently
wrong

## Solution

- duplicate all the licenses to all crates and remove the
`--allow-dirty` flag
- instead of a manual list of crates, get it from `cargo package
--workspace`
- remove the `--no-verify` flag to... verify more things?

- Moved `hashbrown`, `foldhash`, and related types out of `bevy_utils`
and into `bevy_platform_support`
- Refactored the above to match the layout of these types in `std`.
- Updated crates as required.

`hashbrown` directly.
- `bevy_utils::Entry` has been removed. Instead, import from
`bevy_platform_support::collections::hash_map` or
`bevy_platform_support::collections::hash_set` as appropriate.
- All of the above equally apply to `bevy::utils` and
`bevy::platform_support`.

## Notes

- I left `PreHashMap`, `PreHashMapExt`, and `TypeIdMap` in `bevy_utils`
as they might be candidates for micro-crating. They can always be moved
into `bevy_platform_support` at a later date if desired.

Support non-Vec data structures in relations (#17447)
# Objective

The existing `RelationshipSourceCollection` uses `Vec` as the only
possible backing for our relationships. While a reasonable choice,
benchmarking use cases might reveal that a different data type is better
or faster.

For example:

- Not all relationships require a stable ordering between the
relationship sources (i.e. children). In cases where we a) have many
such relations and b) don't care about the ordering between them, a hash
set is likely a better datastructure than a `Vec`.
- The number of children-like entities may be small on average, and a
`smallvec` may be faster

## Solution

- Implement `RelationshipSourceCollection` for `EntityHashSet`, our
custom entity-optimized `HashSet`.
-~~Implement `DoubleEndedIterator` for `EntityHashSet` to make things
compile.~~
   -  This implementation was cursed and very surprising.
- Instead, by moving the iterator type on `RelationshipSourceCollection`
from an erased RPTIT to an explicit associated type we can add a trait
bound on the offending methods!
- Implement `RelationshipSourceCollection` for `SmallVec`

## Testing

I've added a pair of new tests to make sure this pattern compiles
successfully in practice!

## Migration Guide

`EntityHashSet` and `EntityHashMap` are no longer re-exported in
`bevy_ecs::entity` directly. If you were not using `bevy_ecs` / `bevy`'s
`prelude`, you can access them through their now-public modules,
`hash_set` and `hash_map` instead.

## Notes to reviewers

The `EntityHashSet::Iter` type needs to be public for this impl to be
allowed. I initially renamed it to something that wasn't ambiguous and
re-exported it, but as @Victoronz pointed out, that was somewhat
unidiomatic.

In
1a8564898f,
I instead made the `entity_hash_set` public (and its `entity_hash_set`)
sister public, and removed the re-export. I prefer this design (give me
module docs please), but it leads to a lot of churn in this PR.

Let me know which you'd prefer, and if you'd like me to split that
change out into its own micro PR.

Downgrade clippy::allow_attributes and clippy::allow_attributes_without_reason to warn (#17320)
# Objective
I realized that setting these to `deny` may have been a little
aggressive - especially since we upgrade warnings to denies in CI.

## Solution
Downgrades these lints to `warn`, so that compiles can work locally. CI
will still treat these as denies.

## Solution
Set the `clippy::allow_attributes` and
`clippy::allow_attributes_without_reason` lints to `deny`, and bring
`bevy_gilrs` in line with the new restrictions.

## Testing
`cargo clippy --tests --package bevy_gilrs` was run, and no errors were
encountered.

## Migration Guide

If you were importing `tracing` via `bevy::utils::tracing`, instead use
`bevy::log::tracing`. Note that many items within `tracing` are also
directly re-exported from `bevy::log` as well, so you may only need
`bevy::log` for the most common items (e.g., `warn!`, `trace!`, etc.).
This also applies to the `log_once!` family of macros.

## Notes

- While this doesn't reduce the line-count in `bevy_utils`, it further
decouples the internal crates from `bevy_utils`, making its eventual
removal more feasible in the future.
- I have just imported `tracing` as we do for all dependencies. However,
a workspace dependency may be more appropriate for version management.

## Migration Guide

If you relied on any of the following from `bevy_utils::time`:

- `Duration`
- `TryFromFloatSecsError`

Import these directly from `core::time` regardless of platform target
(WASM, mobile, etc.)

If you relied on any of the following from `bevy_utils::time`:

- `SystemTime`
- `SystemTimeError`

Instead import these directly from either `std::time` or `web_time` as
appropriate for your target platform.

## Notes

`Duration` and `TryFromFloatSecsError` are both re-exports from
`core::time` regardless of whether they are used from `web_time` or
`std::time`, so there is no value gained from re-exporting them from
`bevy_utils::time` as well. As for `SystemTime` and `SystemTimeError`,
no Bevy internal crates or examples rely on these types. Since Bevy
doesn't have a `Time<Wall>` resource for interacting with wall-time (and
likely shouldn't need one), I think removing these from `bevy_utils`
entirely and waiting for a use-case to justify inclusion is a reasonable
path forward.

Deny derive_more error feature and replace it with thiserror (#16684)

- Remove `derive_more`'s error derivation and replace it with

## Solution

- Added `derive_more`'s `error` feature to `deny.toml` to prevent it
sneaking back in.
- Reverted to `thiserror` error derivation

## Notes

Merge conflicts were too numerous to revert the individual changes, so
this reversion was done manually. Please scrutinise carefully during
review.

Use Name component for gamepad (#16233)
# Objective

Addressing a suggestion I made in Discord: store gamepad name as a
`Name` component.
Advantages: 
- Will be nicely displayed in inspector / editor.
- Easier to spawn in tests, just `world.spawn(Gamepad::default())`.

## Solution

`Gamepad` component now stores only vendor and product IDs and `Name`
stores the gamepad name.
Since `GamepadInfo` is no longer necessary, I removed it and merged its
fields into the connection event.

## Testing

- Run unit tests.

- `GamepadInfo` no longer exists:
  -  Name now accesible via `Name` component.
  -  Other information available on `Gamepad` component directly.
  - `GamepadConnection::Connected` now stores all info fields directly.

Add some missing features from the gamepads-as-entities change that were needed to update leafwing-input-manager. (#15685)
The gamepads-as-entities change caused several regressions. This patch
fixes each of them:

1. This PR introduces two new fields on `GamepadInfo`: `vendor_id`, and
`product_id`, as well as associated methods. These fields are simply
mirrored from the `gilrs` library.

2. That PR removed the methods that allowed iterating over all pressed
and released buttons, as well as the method that allowed iterating over
the axis values. (It was still technically possible to do so by using
reflection to access the private fields of `Gamepad`.)

3. The `Gamepad` component wasn't marked reflectable. This PR fixes that
problem.

These changes allowed me to forward port `leafwing-input-manager`.

Implement gamepads as entities (#12770)
# Objective

- Significantly improve the ergonomics of gamepads and allow new
features

Gamepads are a bit unergonomic to work with, they use resources but
unlike other inputs, they are not limited to a single gamepad, to get
around this it uses an identifier (Gamepad) to interact with anything
causing all sorts of issues.

1. There are too many: Gamepads, GamepadSettings, GamepadInfo,
ButtonInput<T>, 2 Axis<T>.
2. ButtonInput/Axis generic methods become really inconvenient to use
e.g. any_pressed()
3. GamepadButton/Axis structs are unnecessary boilerplate:

        if button_inputs.just_pressed(GamepadButton::new(gamepad, GamepadButtonType::South)) {
            info!("{:?} just pressed South", gamepad);

```
4. Projects often need to create resources to store the selected gamepad
and have to manually check if their gamepad is still valid anyways.

- Previously attempted by #3419 and #12674


## Solution

- Implement gamepads as entities.

Using entities solves all the problems above and opens new
possibilities.

1. Reduce boilerplate and allows iteration

let is_pressed = gamepads_buttons.iter().any(|buttons| buttons.pressed(GamepadButtonType::South))
```
2. ButtonInput/Axis generic methods become ergonomic again 
```rust
gamepad_buttons.any_just_pressed([GamepadButtonType::Start, GamepadButtonType::Select])
```
3. Reduces the number of public components significantly (Gamepad,
GamepadSettings, GamepadButtons, GamepadAxes)
4. Components are highly convenient. Gamepad optional features could now
be expressed naturally (`Option<Rumble> or Option<Gyro>`), allows devs
to attach their own components and filter them, so code like this
becomes possible:

    gamepads_buttons: Query<&GamepadButtons, With<Player<T>>>,

Generate links to definition in source code pages on docs.rs and dev-docs.bevyengine.org (#12965)
# Objective

- Fix issue #2611

## Solution

- Add `--generate-link-to-definition` to all the `rustdoc-args` arrays
in the `Cargo.toml`s (for docs.rs)
- Add `--generate-link-to-definition` to the `RUSTDOCFLAGS` environment
variable in the docs workflow (for dev-docs.bevyengine.org)
- Document all the workspace crates in the docs workflow (needed because
otherwise only the source code of the `bevy` package will be included,
making the argument useless)
- I think this also fixes #3662, since it fixes the bug on

Add README.md to all crates (#13184)
# Objective

- `README.md` is a common file that usually gives an overview of the
folder it is in.
- When on <https://crates.io>, `README.md` is rendered as the main
description.
- Many crates in this repository are lacking `README.md` files, which
makes it more difficult to understand their purpose.

- There are also a few inconsistencies with `README.md` files that this
PR and its follow-ups intend to fix.

## Solution

- Create a `README.md` file for all crates that do not have one.
- This file only contains the title of the crate (underscores removed,
proper capitalization, acronyms expanded) and the <https://shields.io>
badges.
- Remove the `readme` field in `Cargo.toml` for `bevy` and
`bevy_reflect`.
- This field is redundant because [Cargo automatically detects
`README.md`
files](https://doc.rust-lang.org/cargo/reference/manifest.html#the-readme-field).
The field is only there if you name it something else, like `INFO.md`.
- Fix capitalization of `bevy_utils`'s `README.md`.
- It was originally `Readme.md`, which is inconsistent with the rest of
the project.
- I created two commits renaming it to `README.md`, because Git appears
to be case-insensitive.
- Expand acronyms in title of `bevy_ptr` and `bevy_utils`.
- In the commit where I created all the new `README.md` files, I
preferred using expanded acronyms in the titles. (E.g. "Bevy Developer
Tools" instead of "Bevy Dev Tools".)
- This commit changes the title of existing `README.md` files to follow
the same scheme.
- I do not feel strongly about this change, please comment if you
disagree and I can revert it.
- Add <https://shields.io> badges to `bevy_time` and `bevy_transform`,
which are the only crates currently lacking them.

Forbid unsafe in most crates in the engine (#12684)
# Objective
Resolves #3824. `unsafe` code should be the exception, not the norm in
Rust. It's obviously needed for various use cases as it's interfacing
with platforms and essentially running the borrow checker at runtime in
the ECS, but the touted benefits of Bevy is that we are able to heavily
leverage Rust's safety, and we should be holding ourselves accountable
to that by minimizing our unsafe footprint.

## Solution
Deny `unsafe_code` workspace wide. Add explicit exceptions for the
following crates, and forbid it in almost all of the others.

* bevy_ecs - Obvious given how much unsafe is needed to achieve
performant results
* bevy_ptr - Works with raw pointers, even more low level than bevy_ecs.
 * bevy_render - due to needing to integrate with wgpu
 * bevy_window - due to needing to integrate with raw_window_handle
* bevy_utils - Several unsafe utilities used by bevy_ecs. Ideally moved
into bevy_ecs instead of made publicly usable.
 * bevy_reflect - Required for the unsafe type casting it's doing.
 * bevy_transform - for the parallel transform propagation
 * bevy_gizmos  - For the SystemParam impls it has.
* bevy_assets - To support reflection. Might not be required, not 100%
sure yet.
* bevy_mikktspace - due to being a conversion from a C library. Pending
safe rewrite.
* bevy_dynamic_plugin - Inherently unsafe due to the dynamic loading
nature.

Several uses of unsafe were rewritten, as they did not need to be using
them:

* bevy_text - a case of `Option::unchecked` could be rewritten as a
normal for loop and match instead of an iterator.
* bevy_color - the Pod/Zeroable implementations were replaceable with
bytemuck's derive macros.

Set the logo and favicon for all of Bevy's published crates (#12696)
# Objective
Currently the built docs only shows the logo and favicon for the top
level `bevy` crate. This makes views like
https://docs.rs/bevy_ecs/latest/bevy_ecs/ look potentially unrelated to
the project at first glance.

## Solution
Reproduce the docs attributes for every crate that Bevy publishes.

Ideally this would be done with some workspace level Cargo.toml control,
but AFAICT, such support does not exist.

Make feature(doc_auto_cfg) work (#12642)

- In #12366 `![cfg_attr(docsrs, feature(doc_auto_cfg))] `was added. But
to apply it it needs `--cfg=docsrs` in rustdoc-args.


## Solution

- Apply `--cfg=docsrs` to all crates and CI.

I also added `[package.metadata.docs.rs]` to all crates to avoid adding
code behind a feature and forget adding the metadata.

Send GamepadEvent for gamepads connected at startup (#12424)
# Objective

- Fix GamepadEvent::Connection not being sent for devices connected at
startup.

## Solution

- GamepadConnectionEvent was being sent directly for gamepads connected
at startup, which causes consumers of GamepadEvent to not receive those
events.
- Instead send GamepadEvent. The gamepad_event_system splits
GamepadEvent up, so consumers of GamepadConnectionEvent will still
receive the events.

Replace bevy_log's tracing reexport with bevy_utils' (#12254)
# Objective
Fixes #11298. Make the use of bevy_log vs bevy_utils::tracing more
consistent.

## Solution
Replace all uses of bevy_log's logging macros with the reexport from
bevy_utils. Remove bevy_log as a dependency where it's no longer needed
anymore.

Ideally we should just be using tracing directly, but given that all of
these crates are already using bevy_utils, this likely isn't that great
of a loss right now.

Make Gilrs a normal resource on non-Wasm targets (#12092)

Partially address #888. Gilrs is initialized on a separate thread, and
thus conditionally implements `Send`, and all platforms other than Wasm.
This means the `NonSend` resource constraint is likely too conservative.

## Solution
Relax the requirement, and conditionally derive Resource on a wrapper
around it, using `SyncCell` to satisfy the `Sync` requirement on it.

Inverse missing_docs logic (#11676)

Update Event send methods to return EventId (#10551)
# Objective

- Fixes #10532

## Solution

I've updated the various `Event` send methods to return the sent
`EventId`(s). Since these methods previously returned nothing, and this
information is cheap to copy, there should be minimal negative
consequences to providing this additional information. In the case of
`send_batch`, an iterator is returned built from `Range` and `Map`,
which only consumes 16 bytes on the stack with no heap allocations for
all batch sizes. As such, the cost of this information is negligible.

These changes are reflected for `EventWriter` and `World`. For `World`,
the return types are optional to account for the possible lack of an
`Events` resource. Again, these methods previously returned no
information, so its inclusion should only be a benefit.

## Usage

Now when sending events, the IDs of those events is available for
immediate use:

In the above example, a `requester` system can send request events, and
keep track of which ones are currently pending by `EventId`. Then, a
`responder` system can act on that event, providing the ID as a
reference that the `requester` can use. Before this PR, it was not
trivial for a system sending events to keep track of events by ID. This
is unfortunate, since for a system reading events, it is trivial to
access the ID of a event.

Unify FixedTime and Time while fixing several problems (#8964)
# Objective

Current `FixedTime` and `Time` have several problems. This pull aims to
fix many of them at once.

- If there is a longer pause between app updates, time will jump forward
a lot at once and fixed time will iterate on `FixedUpdate` for a large
number of steps. If the pause is merely seconds, then this will just
mean jerkiness and possible unexpected behaviour in gameplay. If the
pause is hours/days as with OS suspend, the game will appear to freeze
until it has caught up with real time.
- If calculating a fixed step takes longer than specified fixed step
period, the game will enter a death spiral where rendering each frame
takes longer and longer due to more and more fixed step updates being
run per frame and the game appears to freeze.
- There is no way to see current fixed step elapsed time inside fixed
steps. In order to track this, the game designer needs to add a custom
system inside `FixedUpdate` that calculates elapsed or step count in a
resource.
- Access to delta time inside fixed step is `FixedStep::period` rather
than `Time::delta`. This, coupled with the issue that `Time::elapsed`
isn't available at all for fixed steps, makes it that time requiring
systems are either implemented to be run in `FixedUpdate` or `Update`,
but rarely work in both.
- Fixes #8800

- Fixes #5692

## Solution

- Create a generic `Time<T>` clock that has no processing logic but
which can be instantiated for multiple usages. This is also exposed for
users to add custom clocks.
- Create three standard clocks, `Time<Real>`, `Time<Virtual>` and
`Time<Fixed>`, all of which contain their individual logic.
- Create one "default" clock, which is just `Time` (or `Time<()>`),
which will be overwritten from `Time<Virtual>` on each update, and
`Time<Fixed>` inside `FixedUpdate` schedule. This way systems that do
not care specifically which time they track can work both in `Update`
and `FixedUpdate` without changes and the behaviour is intuitive.
- Add `max_delta` to virtual time update, which limits how much can be
added to virtual time by a single update. This fixes both the behaviour
after a long freeze, and also the death spiral by limiting how many
fixed timestep iterations there can be per update. Possible future work
could be adding `max_accumulator` to add a sort of "leaky bucket" time
processing to possibly smooth out jumps in time while keeping frame rate
stable.
- Many minor tweaks and clarifications to the time functions and their
documentation.

## Changelog

- `Time::raw_delta()`, `Time::raw_elapsed()` and related methods are
moved to `Time<Real>::delta()` and `Time<Real>::elapsed()` and now match
`Time` API
- `FixedTime` is now `Time<Fixed>` and matches `Time` API. 
- `Time<Fixed>` default timestep is now 64 Hz, or 15625 microseconds.
- `Time` inside `FixedUpdate` now reflects fixed timestep time, making
systems portable between `Update ` and `FixedUpdate`.
- `Time::pause()`, `Time::set_relative_speed()` and related methods must
now be called as `Time<Virtual>::pause()` etc.
- There is a new `max_delta` setting in `Time<Virtual>` that limits how
much the clock can jump by a single update. The default value is 0.25
seconds.
- Removed `on_fixed_timer()` condition as `on_timer()` does the right
thing inside `FixedUpdate` now.

## Migration Guide

- Change all `Res<Time>` instances that access `raw_delta()`,
`raw_elapsed()` and related methods to `Res<Time<Real>>` and `delta()`,
`elapsed()`, etc.
- Change access to `period` from `Res<FixedTime>` to `Res<Time<Fixed>>`
and use `delta()`.
- The default timestep has been changed from 60 Hz to 64 Hz. If you wish
to restore the old behaviour, use
`app.insert_resource(Time::<Fixed>::from_hz(60.0))`.
- Change `app.insert_resource(FixedTime::new(duration))` to
`app.insert_resource(Time::<Fixed>::from_duration(duration))`
- Change `app.insert_resource(FixedTime::new_from_secs(secs))` to
`app.insert_resource(Time::<Fixed>::from_seconds(secs))`
- Change `system.on_fixed_timer(duration)` to
`system.on_timer(duration)`. Timers in systems placed in `FixedUpdate`
schedule automatically use the fixed time clock.
- Change `ResMut<Time>` calls to `pause()`, `is_paused()`,
`set_relative_speed()` and related methods to `ResMut<Time<Virtual>>`
calls. The API is the same, with the exception that `relative_speed()`
will return the actual last ste relative speed, while
`effective_relative_speed()` returns 0.0 if the time is paused and
corresponds to the speed that was set when the update for the current
frame started.

input: allow multiple gamepad inputs to be registered for one button in one frame (#9446)
# Objective

- Currently, (AFAIC, accidentally) after registering an event for a
Gilrs button event, we ignore all subsequent events for the same button
in the same frame, because we don't update our filter. This is rare, but
I noticed it while adding gamepad support to a terminal app rendering at
15fps.
- Related to #4664, but does not quite fix it.

## Solution

- Move the edit to the `Axis<GamepadButton>` resource to when we read
the events from Gilrs.
