Add EntityDoesNotExistError, replace cases of Entity as an error, do some easy Resultification (#17855)
## Objective
There's no general error for when an entity doesn't exist, and some
methods are going to need one when they get Resultified. The closest
thing is `EntityFetchError`, but that error has a slightly more specific
purpose.

## Solution
- Added `EntityDoesNotExistError`.
  - Contains `Entity` and `EntityDoesNotExistDetails`.
- Changed `EntityFetchError` and `QueryEntityError`:
- Changed `NoSuchEntity` variant to wrap `EntityDoesNotExistError` and
renamed the variant to `EntityDoesNotExist`.
- Renamed `EntityFetchError` to `EntityMutableFetchError` to make its
purpose clearer.
- Renamed `TryDespawnError` to `EntityDespawnError` to make it more
general.
- Changed `World::inspect_entity` to return `Result<[ok],
EntityDoesNotExistError>` instead of panicking.
- Changed `World::get_entity` and `WorldEntityFetch::fetch_ref` to
return `Result<[ok], EntityDoesNotExistError>` instead of `Result<[ok],
Entity>`.
- Changed `UnsafeWorldCell::get_entity` to return
`Result<UnsafeEntityCell, EntityDoesNotExistError>` instead of
`Option<UnsafeEntityCell>`.

## Migration Guide
- `World::inspect_entity` now returns `Result<impl Iterator<Item =
&ComponentInfo>, EntityDoesNotExistError>` instead of `impl
Iterator<Item = &ComponentInfo>`.
- `World::get_entity` now returns `EntityDoesNotExistError` as an error
instead of `Entity`. You can still access the entity's ID through the
error's `entity` field.
- `UnsafeWorldCell::get_entity` now returns `Result<UnsafeEntityCell,
EntityDoesNotExistError>` instead of `Option<UnsafeEntityCell>`.

Improved Spawn APIs and Bundle Effects (#17521)
## Objective

A major critique of Bevy at the moment is how boilerplatey it is to
compose (and read) entity hierarchies:

```rust
commands
    .spawn(Foo)
    .with_children(|p| {
        p.spawn(Bar).with_children(|p| {
            p.spawn(Baz);
        });
        p.spawn(Bar).with_children(|p| {
            p.spawn(Baz);
        });
    });
```

There is also currently no good way to statically define and return an
entity hierarchy from a function. Instead, people often do this
"internally" with a Commands function that returns nothing, making it
impossible to spawn the hierarchy in other cases (direct World spawns,
ChildSpawner, etc).

Additionally, because this style of API results in creating the
hierarchy bits _after_ the initial spawn of a bundle, it causes ECS
archetype changes (and often expensive table moves).

Because children are initialized after the fact, we also can't count
them to pre-allocate space. This means each time a child inserts itself,
it has a high chance of overflowing the currently allocated capacity in
the `RelationshipTarget` collection, causing literal worst-case
reallocations.

We can do better!

## Solution

The Bundle trait has been extended to support an optional
`BundleEffect`. This is applied directly to World immediately _after_
the Bundle has fully inserted. Note that this is
[intentionally](https://github.com/bevyengine/bevy/discussions/16920)
_not done via a deferred Command_, which would require repeatedly
copying each remaining subtree of the hierarchy to a new command as we
walk down the tree (_not_ good performance).

This allows us to implement the new `SpawnRelated` trait for all
`RelationshipTarget` impls, which looks like this in practice:

`Children::spawn` returns `SpawnRelatedBundle<Children, L:
SpawnableList>`, which is a `Bundle` that inserts `Children`
(preallocated to the size of the `SpawnableList::size_hint()`).
`Spawn<B: Bundle>(pub B)` implements `SpawnableList` with a size of 1.
`SpawnableList` is also implemented for tuples of `SpawnableList` (same
general pattern as the Bundle impl).

There are currently three built-in `SpawnableList` implementations:

We get the benefits of "structured init", but we have nice flexibility
where it is required!

Some readers' first instinct might be to try to remove the need for the
`Spawn` wrapper. This is impossible in the Rust type system, as a tuple
of "child Bundles to be spawned" and a "tuple of Components to be added
via a single Bundle" is ambiguous in the Rust type system. There are two
ways to resolve that ambiguity:

1. By adding support for variadics to the Rust type system (removing the
need for nested bundles). This is out of scope for this PR :)
2. Using wrapper types to resolve the ambiguity (this is what I did in
this PR).

For the single-entity spawn cases, `Children::spawn_one` does also
exist, which removes the need for the wrapper:

## This works for all Relationships

This API isn't just for `Children` / `ChildOf` relationships. It works
for any relationship type, and they can be mixed and matched!

        Spawn(Observer::new(|trigger: Trigger<Exploded>| {})),

## Macros

While `Spawn` is necessary to satisfy the type system, we _can_ remove
the need to express it via macros. The example above can be expressed
more succinctly using the new `children![X]` macro, which internally
produces `Children::spawn(Spawn(X))`:

    children![
        (
            Bar,
            children![Baz],
        ),
        (
            Bar,
            children![Baz],
        ),
    ]
))
```

There is also a `related!` macro, which is a generic version of the
`children!` macro that supports any relationship type:

            related!(Children[Baz]),
        ),
    ])
))
```

## Returning Hierarchies from Functions

Thanks to these changes, the following pattern is now possible:

## Additional Changes and Notes

* `Bundle::from_components` has been split out into
`BundleFromComponents::from_components`, enabling us to implement
`Bundle` for types that cannot be "taken" from the ECS (such as the new
`SpawnRelatedBundle`).
* The `NoBundleEffect` trait (which implements `BundleEffect`) is
implemented for empty tuples (and tuples of empty tuples), which allows
us to constrain APIs to only accept bundles that do not have effects.
This is critical because the current batch spawn APIs cannot efficiently
apply BundleEffects in their current form (as doing so in-place could
invalidate the cached raw pointers). We could consider allocating a
buffer of the effects to be applied later, but that does have
performance implications that could offset the balance and value of the
batched APIs (and would likely require some refactors to the underlying
code). I've decided to be conservative here. We can consider relaxing
that requirement on those APIs later, but that should be done in a
followup imo.
* I've ported a few examples to illustrate real-world usage. I think in
a followup we should port all examples to the `children!` form whenever
possible (and for cases that require things like SpawnIter, use the raw
APIs).
* Some may ask "why not use the `Relationship` to spawn (ex:
`ChildOf::spawn(Foo)`) instead of the `RelationshipTarget` (ex:
`Children::spawn(Spawn(Foo))`)?". That _would_ allow us to remove the
`Spawn` wrapper. I've explicitly chosen to disallow this pattern.
`Bundle::Effect` has the ability to create _significant_ weirdness.
Things in `Bundle` position look like components. For example
`world.spawn((Foo, ChildOf::spawn(Bar)))` _looks and reads_ like Foo is
a child of Bar. `ChildOf` is in Foo's "component position" but it is not
a component on Foo. This is a huge problem. Now that `Bundle::Effect`
exists, we should be _very_ principled about keeping the "weird and
unintuitive behavior" to a minimum. Things that read like components
_should be the components they appear to be".

## Remaining Work

* The macros are currently trivially implemented using macro_rules and
are currently limited to the max tuple length. They will require a
proc_macro implementation to work around the tuple length limit.

## Next Steps

* Port the remaining examples to use `children!` where possible and raw
`Spawn` / `SpawnIter` / `SpawnWith` where the flexibility of the raw API
is required.

## Migration Guide

Existing spawn patterns will continue to work as expected.

Manual Bundle implementations now require a `BundleEffect` associated
type. Exisiting bundles would have no bundle effect, so use `()`.
Additionally `Bundle::from_components` has been moved to the new
`BundleFromComponents` trait.

Cleanup publish process (#17728)
# Objective

- publish script copy the license files to all subcrates, meaning that
all publish are dirty. this breaks git verification of crates
- the order and list of crates to publish is manually maintained,
leading to error. cargo 1.84 is more strict and the list is currently
wrong

## Solution

- duplicate all the licenses to all crates and remove the
`--allow-dirty` flag
- instead of a manual list of crates, get it from `cargo package
--workspace`
- remove the `--no-verify` flag to... verify more things?

Warnings and docs for exponential denormalization in rotate functions (alternative to #17604) (#17646)
# Objective

- When obtaining an axis from the transform and putting that into
`Transform::rotate_axis` or `Transform::rotate_axis_local`, floating
point errors could accumulate exponentially, resulting in denormalized
rotation.
- This is an alternative to and closes #17604, due to lack of consent
around this in the [discord
discussion](https://discord.com/channels/691052431525675048/1203087353850364004/1334232710658392227)
- Closes #16480 

## Solution

- Add a warning of this issue and a recommendation to normalize to the
API docs.
- Add a runtime warning that checks for denormalized axis in debug mode,
with a reference to the API docs.

Parent -> ChildOf (#17427)
Fixes #17412

## Objective

`Parent` uses the "has a X" naming convention. There is increasing
sentiment that we should use the "is a X" naming convention for
relationships (following #17398). This leaves `Children` as-is because
there is prevailing sentiment that `Children` is clearer than `ParentOf`
in many cases (especially when treating it like a collection).

This renames `Parent` to `ChildOf`.

This is just the implementation PR. To discuss the path forward, do so
in #17412.

## Migration Guide

- The `Parent` component has been renamed to `ChildOf`.

Relationships (non-fragmenting, one-to-many) (#17398)
This adds support for one-to-many non-fragmenting relationships (with
planned paths for fragmenting and non-fragmenting many-to-many
relationships). "Non-fragmenting" means that entities with the same
relationship type, but different relationship targets, are not forced
into separate tables (which would cause "table fragmentation").

Functionally, this fills a similar niche as the current Parent/Children
system. The biggest differences are:

1. Relationships have simpler internals and significantly improved
performance and UX. Commands and specialized APIs are no longer
necessary to keep everything in sync. Just spawn entities with the
relationship components you want and everything "just works".
2. Relationships are generalized. Bevy can provide additional built in
relationships, and users can define their own.

**REQUEST TO REVIEWERS**: _please don't leave top level comments and
instead comment on specific lines of code. That way we can take
advantage of threaded discussions. Also dont leave comments simply
pointing out CI failures as I can read those just fine._

## Built on top of what we have

Relationships are implemented on top of the Bevy ECS features we already
have: components, immutability, and hooks. This makes them immediately
compatible with all of our existing (and future) APIs for querying,
spawning, removing, scenes, reflection, etc. The fewer specialized APIs
we need to build, maintain, and teach, the better.

## Why focus on one-to-many non-fragmenting first?

1. This allows us to improve Parent/Children relationships immediately,
in a way that is reasonably uncontroversial. Switching our hierarchy to
fragmenting relationships would have significant performance
implications. ~~Flecs is heavily considering a switch to non-fragmenting
relations after careful considerations of the performance tradeoffs.~~
_(Correction from @SanderMertens: Flecs is implementing non-fragmenting
storage specialized for asset hierarchies, where asset hierarchies are
many instances of small trees that have a well defined structure)_
2. Adding generalized one-to-many relationships is currently a priority
for the [Next Generation Scene / UI
effort](https://github.com/bevyengine/bevy/discussions/14437).
Specifically, we're interested in building reactions and observers on
top.

## The changes

This PR does the following:

1. Adds a generic one-to-many Relationship system
3. Ports the existing Parent/Children system to Relationships, which now
lives in `bevy_ecs::hierarchy`. The old `bevy_hierarchy` crate has been
removed.
4. Adds on_despawn component hooks
5. Relationships can opt-in to "despawn descendants" behavior, meaning
that the entire relationship hierarchy is despawned when
`entity.despawn()` is called. The built in Parent/Children hierarchies
enable this behavior, and `entity.despawn_recursive()` has been removed.
6. `world.spawn` now applies commands after spawning. This ensures that
relationship bookkeeping happens immediately and removes the need to
manually flush. This is in line with the equivalent behaviors recently
added to the other APIs (ex: insert).
7. Removes the ValidParentCheckPlugin (system-driven / poll based) in
favor of a `validate_parent_has_component` hook.

## Using Relationships

The `Relationship` trait looks like this:

```rust

```

A relationship is a component that:

1. Is a simple wrapper over a "target" Entity.
2. Has a corresponding `RelationshipSources` component, which is a
simple wrapper over a collection of entities. Every "target entity"
targeted by a "source entity" with a `Relationship` has a
`RelationshipSources` component, which contains every "source entity"
that targets it.

For example, the `Parent` component (as it currently exists in Bevy) is
the `Relationship` component and the entity containing the Parent is the
"source entity". The entity _inside_ the `Parent(Entity)` component is
the "target entity". And that target entity has a `Children` component
(which implements `RelationshipSources`).

In practice, the Parent/Children relationship looks like this:

#[relationship_sources(relationship = Parent)]

```

The Relationship and RelationshipSources derives automatically implement
Component with the relevant configuration (namely, the hooks necessary
to keep everything in sync).

The most direct way to add relationships is to spawn entities with
relationship components:

let b = world.spawn(Parent(a)).id();

assert_eq!(world.entity(a).get::<Children>().unwrap(), &[b]);
```

There are also convenience APIs for spawning more than one entity with
the same relationship:

world.spawn_empty().with_related::<Children>(|s| {
    s.spawn_empty();
    s.spawn_empty();
})
```

The existing `with_children` API is now a simpler wrapper over
`with_related`. This makes this change largely non-breaking for existing
spawn patterns.

```rust
world.spawn_empty().with_children(|s| {
    s.spawn_empty();
    s.spawn_empty();
})
```

There are also other relationship APIs, such as `add_related` and
`despawn_related`.

## Automatic recursive despawn via the new on_despawn hook

`RelationshipSources` can opt-in to "despawn descendants" behavior,
which will despawn all related entities in the relationship hierarchy:

```rust
#[derive(RelationshipSources)]
#[relationship_sources(relationship = Parent, despawn_descendants)]
pub struct Children(Vec<Entity>);
```

This means that `entity.despawn_recursive()` is no longer required.
Instead, just use `entity.despawn()` and the relevant related entities
will also be despawned.

To despawn an entity _without_ despawning its parent/child descendants,
you should remove the `Children` component first, which will also remove
the related `Parent` components:

```rust
entity
    .remove::<Children>()
    .despawn()
```

This builds on the on_despawn hook introduced in this PR, which is fired
when an entity is despawned (before other hooks).

## Relationships are the source of truth

`Relationship` is the _single_ source of truth component.
`RelationshipSources` is merely a reflection of what all the
`Relationship` components say. By embracing this, we are able to
significantly improve the performance of the system as a whole. We can
rely on component lifecycles to protect us against duplicates, rather
than needing to scan at runtime to ensure entities don't already exist
(which results in quadratic runtime). A single source of truth gives us
constant-time inserts. This does mean that we cannot directly spawn
populated `Children` components (or directly add or remove entities from
those components). I personally think this is a worthwhile tradeoff,
both because it makes the performance much better _and_ because it means
theres exactly one way to do things (which is a philosophy we try to
employ for Bevy APIs).

As an aside: treating both sides of the relationship as "equivalent
source of truth relations" does enable building simple and flexible
many-to-many relationships. But this introduces an _inherent_ need to
scan (or hash) to protect against duplicates.
[`evergreen_relations`](https://github.com/EvergreenNest/evergreen_relations)
has a very nice implementation of the "symmetrical many-to-many"
approach. Unfortunately I think the performance issues inherent to that
approach make it a poor choice for Bevy's default relationship system.

## Followup Work

* Discuss renaming `Parent` to `ChildOf`. I refrained from doing that in
this PR to keep the diff reasonable, but I'm personally biased toward
this change (and using that naming pattern generally for relationships).
* [Improved spawning
ergonomics](https://github.com/bevyengine/bevy/discussions/16920)
* Consider adding relationship observers/triggers for "relationship
targets" whenever a source is added or removed. This would replace the
current "hierarchy events" system, which is unused upstream but may have
existing users downstream. I think triggers are the better fit for this
than a buffered event queue, and would prefer not to add that back.
* Fragmenting relations: My current idea hinges on the introduction of
"value components" (aka: components whose type _and_ value determines
their ComponentId, via something like Hashing / PartialEq). By labeling
a Relationship component such as `ChildOf(Entity)` as a "value
component", `ChildOf(e1)` and `ChildOf(e2)` would be considered
"different components". This makes the transition between fragmenting
and non-fragmenting a single flag, and everything else continues to work
as expected.
* Many-to-many support
* Non-fragmenting: We can expand Relationship to be a list of entities
instead of a single entity. I have largely already written the code for
this.
* Fragmenting: With the "value component" impl mentioned above, we get
many-to-many support "for free", as it would allow inserting multiple
copies of a Relationship component with different target entities.

Fixes #3742 (If this PR is merged, I think we should open more targeted
followup issues for the work above, with a fresh tracking issue free of
the large amount of less-directed historical context)

## Migration Guide

* Replace `ChildBuilder` with `ChildSpawnerCommands`.
* Replace calls to `.set_parent(parent_id)` with
`.insert(Parent(parent_id))`.
* Replace calls to `.replace_children()` with `.remove::<Children>()`
followed by `.add_children()`. Note that you'll need to manually despawn
any children that are not carried over.
* Replace calls to `.despawn_recursive()` with `.despawn()`.
* Replace calls to `.despawn_descendants()` with
`.despawn_related::<Children>()`.
* If you have any calls to `.despawn()` which depend on the children
being preserved, you'll need to remove the `Children` component first.

Downgrade clippy::allow_attributes and clippy::allow_attributes_without_reason to warn (#17320)
# Objective
I realized that setting these to `deny` may have been a little
aggressive - especially since we upgrade warnings to denies in CI.

## Solution
Downgrades these lints to `warn`, so that compiles can work locally. CI
will still treat these as denies.

bevy_transform: Apply #![deny(clippy::allow_attributes, clippy::allow_attributes_without_reason)] (#17284)

## Solution
Set the `clippy::allow_attributes` and
`clippy::allow_attributes_without_reason` lints to `deny`, and bring
`bevy_transform` in line with the new restrictions.

## Testing
`cargo clippy --tests --all-features --package bevy_transform` was run,
and no errors were encountered.

Improved Command Errors (#17215)
# Objective

Rework / build on #17043 to simplify the implementation. #17043 should
be merged first, and the diff from this PR will get much nicer after it
is merged (this PR is net negative LOC).

## Solution

1. Command and EntityCommand have been vastly simplified. No more marker
components. Just one function.
2. Command and EntityCommand are now generic on the return type. This
enables result-less commands to exist, and allows us to statically
distinguish between fallible and infallible commands, which allows us to
skip the "error handling overhead" for cases that don't need it.
3. There are now only two command queue variants: `queue` and
`queue_fallible`. `queue` accepts commands with no return type.
`queue_fallible` accepts commands that return a Result (specifically,
one that returns an error that can convert to
`bevy_ecs::result::Error`).
4. I've added the concept of the "default error handler", which is used
by `queue_fallible`. This is a simple direct call to the `panic()` error
handler by default. Users that want to override this can enable the
`configurable_error_handler` cargo feature, then initialize the
GLOBAL_ERROR_HANDLER value on startup. This is behind a flag because
there might be minor overhead with `OnceLock` and I'm guessing this will
be a niche feature. We can also do perf testing with OnceLock if someone
really wants it to be used unconditionally, but I don't personally feel
the need to do that.
5. I removed the "temporary error handler" on Commands (and all code
associated with it). It added more branching, made Commands bigger /
more expensive to initialize (note that we construct it at high
frequencies / treat it like a pointer type), made the code harder to
follow, and introduced a bunch of additional functions. We instead rely
on the new default error handler used in `queue_fallible` for most
things. In the event that a custom handler is required,
`handle_error_with` can be used.
6. EntityCommand now _only_ supports functions that take
`EntityWorldMut` (and all existing entity commands have been ported).
Removing the marker component from EntityCommand hinged on this change,
but I strongly believe this is for the best anyway, as this sets the
stage for more efficient batched entity commands.
7. I added `EntityWorldMut::resource` and the other variants for more
ergonomic resource access on `EntityWorldMut` (removes the need for
entity.world_scope, which also incurs entity-lookup overhead).

## Open Questions

1. I believe we could merge `queue` and `queue_fallible` into a single
`queue` which accepts both fallible and infallible commands (via the
introduction of a `QueueCommand` trait). Is this desirable?

Remove Implicit std Prelude from no_std Crates (#17086)
# Background

In `no_std` compatible crates, there is often an `std` feature which
will allow access to the standard library. Currently, with the `std`
feature _enabled_, the
[`std::prelude`](https://doc.rust-lang.org/std/prelude/index.html) is
implicitly imported in all modules. With the feature _disabled_, instead
the [`core::prelude`](https://doc.rust-lang.org/core/prelude/index.html)
is implicitly imported. This creates a subtle and pervasive issue where
`alloc` items _may_ be implicitly included (if `std` is enabled), or
must be explicitly included (if `std` is not enabled).

# Objective

- Make the implicit imports for `no_std` crates consistent regardless of
what features are/not enabled.

## Solution

- Replace the `cfg_attr` "double negative" `no_std` attribute with
conditional compilation to _include_ `std` as an external crate.

## Notes

I had previously used the "double negative" version of `no_std` based on
general consensus that it was "cleaner" within the Rust embedded
community. However, this implicit prelude issue likely was considered
when forming this consensus. I believe the reason why is the items most
affected by this issue are provided by the `alloc` crate, which is
rarely used within embedded but extensively used within Bevy.

Add no_std support to bevy_transform (#17030)

- Added the following features:
  - `std` (default)
  - `alloc` (default)
  - `bevy_reflect` (default)
  - `libm`

- `alloc` feature added to allow using this crate in `no_alloc`
environments.
- `bevy_reflect` was previously always enabled when `bevy-support` was
enabled, which isn't how most other crates handle reflection. I've
brought this in line with how most crates gate `bevy_reflect`.

Refactor hierarchy-related commands to remove structs (#17029)
## Objective

Continuation of #16999.

This PR handles the following:
- Many hierarchy-related commands are wrappers around `World` and
`EntityWorldMut` methods and can be moved to closures:
  - `AddChild`
  - `InsertChildren`
  - `AddChildren`
  - `RemoveChildren`
  - `ClearChildren`
  - `ReplaceChildren`
  - `RemoveParent`
  - `DespawnRecursive`
  - `DespawnChildrenRecursive`
  - `AddChildInPlace`
  - `RemoveParentInPlace`
- `SendEvent` is a wrapper around `World` methods and can be moved to a
closure (and its file deleted).

## Migration Guide

If you were queuing the structs of hierarchy-related commands or
`SendEvent` directly, you will need to change them to the methods
implemented on `EntityCommands` (or `Commands` for `SendEvent`):

track_change_detection: Also track spawns/despawns (#16047)
# Objective

Expand `track_change_detection` feature to also track entity spawns and
despawns. Use this to create better error messages.

# Solution

Adds `Entities::entity_get_spawned_or_despawned_by` as well as `{all
entity reference types}::spawned_by`.

This also removes the deprecated `get_many_entities_mut` & co (and
therefore can't land in 0.15) because we don't yet have no Polonius.

## Testing

Added a test that checks that the locations get updated and these
updates are ordered correctly vs hooks & observers.

Deny derive_more error feature and replace it with thiserror (#16684)

- Remove `derive_more`'s error derivation and replace it with

## Solution

- Added `derive_more`'s `error` feature to `deny.toml` to prevent it
sneaking back in.
- Reverted to `thiserror` error derivation

## Notes

Merge conflicts were too numerous to revert the individual changes, so
this reversion was done manually. Please scrutinise carefully during
review.

Turn apply_deferred into a ZST System (#16642)
# Objective

- Required by #16622 due to differing implementations of `System` by
`FunctionSystem` and `ExclusiveFunctionSystem`.
- Optimize the memory usage of instances of `apply_deferred` in system
schedules.

## Solution

By changing `apply_deferred` from being an ordinary system that ends up
as an `ExclusiveFunctionSystem`, and instead into a ZST struct that
implements `System` manually, we save ~320 bytes per instance of
`apply_deferred` in any schedule.

## Testing

- All current tests pass.

Move required components doc to type doc (#16575)

Make documentation of a component's required components more visible by
moving it to the type's docs

## Solution

Change `#[require]` from a derive macro helper to an attribute macro.

Disadvantages:
- this silences any unused code warnings on the component, as it is used
by the macro!
- need to import `require` if not using the ecs prelude (I have not
included this in the migration guilde as Rust tooling already suggests
the fix)

Improved the global transform api to access rotation and scale (#16211)
# Objective

GlobalTransform's current methods make it unintuitive, long and clunky
to access just the rotation or just the scale.

## Solution

Dedicated just_rotation() and scale() methods to access just these
properties.

I'm not sure about the naming, I chose just_rotation() to show that try
to indicate there is a waste since it also computes the other fields.

## Testing

- Did you test these changes? If so, how?
I tried logging the methods with a rotating and scaling cube and the
values were correct.
- Are there any parts that need more testing?
My methods are based on existing bevy/glam methods so should be correct
from the getgo.
- How can other people (reviewers) test your changes? Is there anything
specific they need to know?
Probably the easiest is using the 3d_rotations example, adding scaling
to it and then logging the methods I added

Allow World::entity family of functions to take multiple entities and get multiple references back (#15614)
# Objective

Following the pattern established in #15593, we can reduce the API
surface of `World` by providing a single function to grab both a
singular entity reference, or multiple entity references.

## Solution

The following functions can now also take multiple entity IDs and will
return multiple entity references back:
- `World::entity`
- `World::get_entity`
- `World::entity_mut`
- `World::get_entity_mut`
- `DeferredWorld::entity_mut`
- `DeferredWorld::get_entity_mut`

If you pass in X, you receive Y:
- give a single `Entity`, receive a single `EntityRef`/`EntityWorldMut`
(matches current behavior)
- give a `[Entity; N]`/`&[Entity; N]` (array), receive an equally-sized
`[EntityRef; N]`/`[EntityMut; N]`
- give a `&[Entity]` (slice), receive a
`Vec<EntityRef>`/`Vec<EntityMut>`
- give a `&EntityHashSet`, receive a
`EntityHashMap<EntityRef>`/`EntityHashMap<EntityMut>`

Note that `EntityWorldMut` is only returned in the single-entity case,
because having multiple at the same time would lead to UB. Also,
`DeferredWorld` receives an `EntityMut` in the single-entity case
because it does not allow structural access.

## Testing

- Added doc-tests on `World::entity`, `World::entity_mut`, and
`DeferredWorld::entity_mut`
- Added tests for aliased mutability and entity existence

Migrate visibility to required components (#15474)

The next step in the migration to required components: Deprecate
`VisibilityBundle` and make `Visibility` require `InheritedVisibility`
and `ViewVisibility`, as per the [chosen
proposal](https://hackmd.io/@bevy/required_components/%2FcO7JPSAQR5G0J_j5wNwtOQ).

## Solution

Deprecate `VisibilityBundle` and make `Visibility` require
`InheritedVisibility` and `ViewVisibility`.

I chose not to deprecate `SpatialBundle` yet, as doing so would mean
that we need to manually add `Visibility` to a bunch of places. It will
be nicer once meshes, sprites, lights, fog, and cameras have been
migrated, since they will require `Transform` and `Visibility` and
therefore not need manually added defaults for them.

## Migration Guide

Replace all insertions of `VisibilityBundle` with the `Visibility`
component. The other components required by it will now be inserted
automatically.

The first step in the migration to required components! This PR removes
`GlobalTransform` from all user-facing code, since it's now added
automatically wherever `Transform` is used.

- None of the examples I tested were broken, and I assume breaking
transforms in any way would be visible *everywhere*

Add core and alloc over std Lints (#15281)
# Objective

- Fixes #6370
- Closes #6581

## Solution

- Added the following lints to the workspace:
  - `std_instead_of_core`
  - `std_instead_of_alloc`
  - `alloc_instead_of_core`
- Used `cargo +nightly fmt` with [item level use
formatting](https://rust-lang.github.io/rustfmt/?version=v1.6.0&search=#Item%5C%3A)
to split all `use` statements into single items.
- Used `cargo clippy --workspace --all-targets --all-features --fix
--allow-dirty` to _attempt_ to resolve the new linting issues, and
intervened where the lint was unable to resolve the issue automatically
(usually due to needing an `extern crate alloc;` statement in a crate
root).
- Manually removed certain uses of `std` where negative feature gating
prevented `--all-features` from finding the offending uses.
- Used `cargo +nightly fmt` with [crate level use
formatting](https://rust-lang.github.io/rustfmt/?version=v1.6.0&search=#Crate%5C%3A)
to re-merge all `use` statements matching Bevy's previous styling.
- Manually fixed cases where the `fmt` tool could not re-merge `use`
statements due to conditional compilation attributes.

## Testing

- Ran CI locally

## Migration Guide

The MSRV is now 1.81. Please update to this version or higher.

## Notes

- This is a _massive_ change to try and push through, which is why I've
outlined the semi-automatic steps I used to create this PR, in case this
fails and someone else tries again in the future.
- Making this change has no impact on user code, but does mean Bevy
contributors will be warned to use `core` and `alloc` instead of `std`
where possible.
- This lint is a critical first step towards investigating `no_std`
options for Bevy.

List components for QueryEntityError::QueryDoesNotMatch (#15435)
# Objective

Make it easier to debug why an entity doesn't match a query.

## Solution

List the entities components in `QueryEntityError::QueryDoesNotMatch`'s
message, e.g. `The query does not match the entity 0v1, which has
components foo::Bar, foo::Baz`.
This covers most cases as expected components are typically known and
filtering for change detection is rare when assessing a query by entity
id.

## Testing

Added a test confirming the new message matches the entity's components.

## Migration Guide

- `QueryEntityError` now has a lifetime. Convert it to a custom error if
you need to store it.

Allow to expect (adopted) (#15301)
# Objective

preferred to #[allow(...)] because it tells us when it can be removed.

Rename Add to Queue for methods with deferred semantics (#15234)
# Objective

- Fixes #15106

## Solution

- Trivial refactor to rename the method. The duplicate method `push` was
removed as well. This will simpify the API and make the semantics more
clear. `Add` implies that the action happens immediately, whereas in
reality, the command is queued to be run eventually.
- `ChildBuilder::add_command` has similarly been renamed to
`queue_command`.

## Testing

Unit tests should suffice for this simple refactor.

Unify crate-level preludes (#15080)
# Objective

- Crate-level prelude modules, such as `bevy_ecs::prelude`, are plagued
with inconsistency! Let's fix it!

## Solution

Format all preludes based on the following rules:

1. All preludes should have brief documentation in the format of:
   > The _name_ prelude.
   >
> This includes the most common types in this crate, re-exported for
your convenience.
2. All documentation should be outer, not inner. (`///` instead of
`//!`.)
3. No prelude modules should be annotated with `#[doc(hidden)]`. (Items
within them may, though I'm not sure why this was done.)

## Testing

- I manually searched for the term `mod prelude` and updated all
occurrences by hand. 🫠

Generate links to definition in source code pages on docs.rs and dev-docs.bevyengine.org (#12965)
# Objective

- Fix issue #2611

## Solution

- Add `--generate-link-to-definition` to all the `rustdoc-args` arrays
in the `Cargo.toml`s (for docs.rs)
- Add `--generate-link-to-definition` to the `RUSTDOCFLAGS` environment
variable in the docs workflow (for dev-docs.bevyengine.org)
- Document all the workspace crates in the docs workflow (needed because
otherwise only the source code of the `bevy` package will be included,
making the argument useless)
- I think this also fixes #3662, since it fixes the bug on
dev-docs.bevyengine.org, while on docs.rs it has been fixed for a while
on their side.

Conversions for Isometry3d ⟷ Transform/GlobalTransform (#14478)
# Objective

Allow interoperation between `Isometry3d` and the transform types from
bevy_transform. At least in the short term, the primary goal is to allow
the extraction of isometries from transform components by users.

## Solution

- Add explicit `from_isometry`/`to_isometry` methods to `Transform`.
- Add explicit `from_isometry`/`to_isometry` methods to
`GlobalTransform`. The former is hidden (primarily for internal use),
and the latter has the caveats originating in
[`Affine3A::to_scale_rotation_translation`](https://docs.rs/glam/latest/glam/f32/struct.Affine3A.html#method.to_scale_rotation_translation).
- Implement the `TransformPoint` trait for `Isometry3d`.

Only propagate transforms entities with GlobalTransforms. (#14384)
# Objective
Fixes a performance issue when you have 1000s of entities in a bevy
hierarchy without transforms.

This was prominently happening in `bevy_ecs_tilemap`.

## Solution

Filter out entities that don't have a global transform.

## Migration Guide

- To avoid surprising performance pitfalls, `Transform` /
`GlobalTransform` propagation is no longer performed down through
hierarchies where intermediate parent are missing a `GlobalTransform`.
To restore the previous behavior, add `GlobalTransform::default` to
intermediate entities.

Optimize transform propagation (#14373)
# Objective

- Optimize the `propagate_recursive` function in the transform system to
reduce CPU usage.
- Addresses performance bottleneck in transform propagation, especially
for scenes with complex hierarchies.

## Solution

- Avoided unnecessary cloning of `global_transform` when creating the
tuple in the `propagate_recursive` function.
- Used `as_ref()` method on `Mut<GlobalTransform>` when passing it to
the recursive call, avoiding an extra dereference.
- These changes significantly reduced the CPU usage of this function
from 4.91% to 1.16% of self function time.

## Testing

- Performance testing was conducted using the Hotspot GUI tool,
comparing CPU usage before and after the changes.
- `cargo run --release --example many_foxes`
- Tested on Fedora Linux.

without needing to modify their code.

Clarify GlobalTransform::transform_point (#14292)
The existing doc comment for GlobalTransform::transform_point is
unclear, or, arguably, incorrect.
https://github.com/bevyengine/bevy/discussions/8501 also mentions this.

Additionally, a user reading the doc for transform_point might be
looking for one of the three other transforms that I mentioned in this
doc comment.

Fix intra-doc links and make CI test them (#14076)

- Bevy currently has lot of invalid intra-doc links, let's fix them!
- Also make CI test them, to avoid future regressions.
- Helps with #1983 (but doesn't fix it, as there could still be explicit
links to docs.rs that are broken)

## Solution

- Make `cargo r -p ci -- doc-check` check fail on warnings (could also
be changed to just some specific lints)
- Manually fix all the warnings (note that in some cases it was unclear
to me what the fix should have been, I'll try to highlight them in a
self-review)

Merge BuildWorldChildren and BuildChildren traits. (#14052)
# Objective

The `BuildChildren` and `BuildWorldChildren` traits are mostly
identical, so I decided to try and merge them. I'm not sure of the
history, maybe they were added before GATs existed.

## Solution

- Add an associated type to `BuildChildren` which reflects the prior
differences between the `BuildChildren` and `BuildWorldChildren` traits.
- Add `ChildBuild` trait that is the bounds for
`BuildChildren::Builder`, with impls for `ChildBuilder` and
`WorldChildBuilder`.
- Remove `BuildWorldChildren` trait and replace it with an impl of
`BuildChildren` for `EntityWorldMut`.

## Testing

I ran several of the examples that use entity hierarchies, mainly UI.

Implement `BuildChildrenTransformExt` for `EntityWorldMut`, which is
useful when working directly with a mutable `World` ref.

## Solution

I realize this isn't the most optimal implementation in that it doesn't
reuse the existing entity location for the child, but it is terse and
reuses the existing code. I can address that if needed.

## Testing

I only tested locally. There are no tests for `set_parent_in_place` and
`remove_parent_in_place` currently, but I can add some.

Fix lints introduced in Rust beta 1.80 (#13899)
Resolves #13895

Mostly just involves being more explicit about which parts of the docs
belong to a list and which begin a new paragraph.
- found a few docs that were malformed because of exactly this, so I
fixed that by introducing a paragraph
- added indentation to nearly all multiline lists
- fixed a few minor typos
- added `#[allow(dead_code)]` to types that are needed to test
annotations but are never constructed

Allow bevy_transform to be used as a barebones dependency (#13533)

Allow using the `bevy_transform` crate for its definitions of
`Transform` (and `GlobalTransform`) which are re-usable in many
contexts, including ones where other parts of Bevy (ECS, reflection,
etc.) are not necessarily needed or wanted due to the big dependency
tree.

## Solution

Introduce a feature flag "bevy-support" in the `bevy_transform` crate
which makes the dependency tree small when default features are off.

Both `cargo b` and `cargo b --no-default-features` builds.

bevy_transform split up to allow feature gate modularity (#13599)
# Objective

Part of https://github.com/bevyengine/bevy/issues/13529
Helps https://github.com/bevyengine/bevy/pull/13533

Splitting up `bevy_transform` makes it easier to selectively include or
exclude parts of it in such a way that it's possible to include only a
small part with a small dependency tree.

## Solution

Make the crate more modular.

Use Dir3 for local axis methods in GlobalTransform (#13264)
Switched the return type from `Vec3` to `Dir3` for directional axis
methods within the `GlobalTransform` component.

## Migration Guide
The `GlobalTransform` component's directional axis methods (e.g.,
`right()`, `left()`, `up()`, `down()`, `back()`, `forward()`) have been
updated from returning `Vec3` to `Dir3`.

Add README.md to all crates (#13184)
# Objective

- `README.md` is a common file that usually gives an overview of the
folder it is in.
- When on <https://crates.io>, `README.md` is rendered as the main
description.
- Many crates in this repository are lacking `README.md` files, which
makes it more difficult to understand their purpose.

- There are also a few inconsistencies with `README.md` files that this
PR and its follow-ups intend to fix.

## Solution

- Create a `README.md` file for all crates that do not have one.
- This file only contains the title of the crate (underscores removed,
proper capitalization, acronyms expanded) and the <https://shields.io>
badges.
- Remove the `readme` field in `Cargo.toml` for `bevy` and
`bevy_reflect`.
- This field is redundant because [Cargo automatically detects
`README.md`
files](https://doc.rust-lang.org/cargo/reference/manifest.html#the-readme-field).
The field is only there if you name it something else, like `INFO.md`.
- Fix capitalization of `bevy_utils`'s `README.md`.
- It was originally `Readme.md`, which is inconsistent with the rest of
the project.
- I created two commits renaming it to `README.md`, because Git appears
to be case-insensitive.
- Expand acronyms in title of `bevy_ptr` and `bevy_utils`.
- In the commit where I created all the new `README.md` files, I
preferred using expanded acronyms in the titles. (E.g. "Bevy Developer
Tools" instead of "Bevy Dev Tools".)
- This commit changes the title of existing `README.md` files to follow
the same scheme.
- I do not feel strongly about this change, please comment if you
disagree and I can revert it.
- Add <https://shields.io> badges to `bevy_time` and `bevy_transform`,
which are the only crates currently lacking them.
